The DLS represents the interests of members of the solicitor's profession working within Dorset. Our aim is to also to ensure that we can provide as much information as possible to members of the public upon the provision of legal services in Dorset.
The Law Society is the professional body which represents solicitors in England and Wales and we are an entirely independent body from them.
If you are not already a member of The DLS but practice in Dorset we would encourage you to join.
If you are a member of the public, we hope that you will find the information set out on this site useful. Please contact us if you feel that you or anyone else would benefit from more information and we will look to add this to the site.
Why use a DLS solicitor?
There are lots of reasons why the public should use solicitors and be confident in using them. We are delighted that DLS members meet all these criteria but "go the extra mile". All members:
carry professional indemnity insurance which provides protection to the public.
as qualified solicitors are subject to many professional reulations and have to follow strict codes of professional conduct. If they do not then the public can claim compensation from the Solicitors Regulation Authority .
go even further in adhering to an enhanced voluntary code of conduct to provide enhanced service levels (link to code of conduct page).
must follow a very difficult training programme to secure admission to the profession. This programmes takes several years and all solicitors are obliged once they have qualified to undertake continuous training.
